MoCA 2.5 adapter setup (goCoax WF-803M) with file transfer and 4K game streaming speed testing

This is the second video about my goCoax MOCA home LAN set up. #homenetwork

I added some real world 4k GTA 5 streaming from my gaming computer to the video editing computer on the other end of the home over the coaxial lines. Gaming computer: i5 8400 16 GB Nvidia GTX 1070 Video editing computer: Ryzen 5 2400G 16 GB AMD R9 280

I then transfer a 12-gigabyte video file over the network showing the speed and bandwidth used for this.

Feel free to ask anything, and I will do my best to answer all questions and share in everyone’s experiences.

One more, I am not affiliated with goCoax. This is merely my successes and trials with the devices (and MOCA in general really).

  1. Great video,

So quick question. I have my modem and stuff in a separate room.

Would I just be able to plug in my MOCA adapter into my coax in my living room in order to run Ethernet to my Xbox?

  2. I just purchased two goCoax boxes. Our house was built in 1998 and almost every room has coax. If the coax (the one on the wall) isn’t connected to anything yet, do I just plug in the coax wire into there, then plug in the ethernet wire into my internet router/modem? Then in my room (where I’ll be putting the second goCoax box), I just need to plug the coax into the box & the ethernet wire to my Playstation right?

I’m so sorry, I’m new to this. Thank you!

  3. Hi! great video, was wondering if this will work as a amp/booster also? Verizon Fios just updated all my equipment but i have a log run going up to my second floor split from the first floor, In the attic i have a 4 way splitter for the bedroom but am losing signal , Verizon says this is because of signal loss on the splitters, can i put this right before the splitter to regenerate a strong signal for the attic splitter? thanks!

  4. Hi Mike,

I would greatly appreciate your help with "the right" set up instructions for a MOCA 2.5 system as well as which devices to purchase, i.e. GoCoax, Actiontec, etc.

My home is an older bungalow with impenetrable plaster walls. No mesh network seems to work! I have a Coax Modem, with IPTV wireless television boxes and all other peripherals (i.e. computers) are connected wirelessly.

    These are the equipment specifications:
    – My provider is Rogers (Canada).
    – I have a technicolor cgm4140com Modem.
    – Technicolor tx061aei IPTV boxes connected wirelessly.

What is the proper way to set up a MOCA system, with all of the peripherals connected wirelessly, i.e. can I connect a wifi router to a MOCA adapter to extend the signal in my basement, and other extremities of the house?

    Many thanks for your time!

  5. Thanks for the MOCA videos, they've been really helpful in my research. I'm thinking of using MOCA in the new house I just bought, built in 2003 and it seems to have coax in just about every room. Haven't had a chance to look into how the coax is run exactly yet, we don't close for another month. But I'm really hoping MOCA will get me close to true gigabit speeds like I'd get with CAT5/6 without having to run a bunch of cable.
