Betfair trading | A simple pre-off horse racing trade | Fully explained

Betfair trading is all about having a Betfair trading strategy and then looking for a suitable market in which to deploy that strategy.

All Betfair trading strategies work if you put them into the right market. But if you just do a generic strategy into every market then you will get random results.

In this video I describe a trade I did this week and why I traded it in this specific manner. It’s geared around a trade set-up that I look for often. These occur on a daily basis in the markets, though not all of them result in profitable trades. It’s one of my favourite set-ups.

I use a combination of price action, by looking at charts, and order flow, by looking at the ladder. To give me clues as to where to enter and exit the market.

If you want the ‘base’ version of the Advanced chart that is more accurate than the Betfair charting. Download it on the forum: –

  1. Quick question,

The volume bars along the bottom of the betfair graphs, are these backing activity? Laying? Or a combination of both?

  2. Bet angel looks great. Are there any deals or offers coming up for new beta gel customers ?

  3. why you are not explane live trading your strategy?
after everybody can explan what happened….before… i also can said to you what happened yesterday but i cant what come the next day…

  4. New to this kind off punt so didn’t understand one eyeotta of what you said or did,so going to diss guard it all together just don’t understand it at all,if I carry on I’ll probably lose a fortune just trying to figure it all out 🤷‍♂️

  5. It takes time and practice to do this type of trade but it is relatively straight forward and there is no "black magic" involved- and they come around very frequently. Nice explanation, Lord Peter of Webb.

  6. It's get said allot but this really is best video you have done no big fancy words that you need a dictionary for, no vagueness and clear instructions for the process. Please keep you videos like this Peter. A belter.

  7. Nice video Peter – thanks. Any idea what the latest farce is on the Daq? they have US markets but nothing comes up on the links….have they folded?

  8. 10:45 – Looking at the numbers on the back side of the market, your back-bet is a big chunk of the money waiting to be matched. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you here 'controlling/driving' the market in some way? Okay, so the money is relatively small, but still, on a more liquid market, wouldn't your ability to invest greater amounts – on either side of the market – bury us 'poor people?' 😉 My point is this: should us 'Plebs' <VBG> keep away from you 'big-boys?' 🙂

  9. When you use automation to trade these horse racing events how do you do that, set that up, do you go in play, I just want to know how you set up automation and just trade it automatically without going in the red, what’s you strategy! Many 🙏

  10. One more thing sorry, you said today you are manually trading 30 to 50 events today, are these all horse racing, what is the min a can trade in a day so all the races don’t overlap.
If there are 4 meetings today, that’s 28 races, do you recommend I just trade 14 races that’s two tracks so they don’t overlap.
How many would I do in the summer when there are lots of them, thank you.

  11. Happy new year Peter, I would like to know how do I work out how much do I stake then scale up.
So I start with £500 how do I know how much to trade with, then it goes to £1000, what is the best way to work out how much I should stake, thank you.

  12. Thanks Peter, very interesting. Just to be clear, you actually entered with a Back and rode it down right? Whilst watching and listening I got the impression you got in with a Lay when you felt it had hit bottom and was on it's way back up.
