Fighting Back: The Jewish Brigade Group on the Italian Front 1944/45

Dr Gianluca Fantoni is a senior Lecturer in Modern History, History, Heritage and Global Cultures at the School of Arts and Humanities at Nottingham Trent University

In today’s show we will chronicle the period of bargaining between the Jewish Agency of Palestine and the British Government that eventually lead to the decision of creating a unit formed of Jewish of Palestine, and the importance that this unit has in the history of Zionism and in the Jewish memory of WWII. We will then go on to examine their role in the Italian campaign in 1944 and 1945.
