Welcome to the Corporate Casket, a semiweekly series where bad businesses go to die. We will discuss any and everything from bad charities, terrible CEOs, and businesses that have a lot to hide.

When Live Nation and Ticketmaster joined forces over a decade ago, they promised that the new partnership would benefit consumers. The new powerful relationship has, unfortunately, proven to be anything but beneficial to the public; soaring ticket prices, alleged monopolies, and widespread controversies over beloved artists have become commonplace. Can the two be separated? And if so, can anything return to normal again?

  1. I was going to a concert once or twice a week until after the quarantine. Now I've only been to 5 or 6 concerts in the last 3 years. It's become too expensive to enjoy live music for me.

  2. I would not know Taylor Swift if I heard her. My favorite band is Black Sabbath Ozzy years. Are tickets really 600 bucks? Last time I bought tickets it was around 60ish bucks for the Bloodhound gang. Keep up the good work!

  3. I love how this was happening to K-pop fans for so many years but once it happens to Taylor swift they start to crack down on Ticketmaster…..

  4. Just my 2 cents but there is not a band out there weren’t paying $600 to see maybe 100 bucks but not more than that. I don’t care what kind it is

  5. Intriguing, i always knew there was more to life and i have also been looking for a way to find not only protection but a way to be influential to the human society

  6. lets be honest "wanting to apologise" isnt even apologising, like "I want to have a million dollars" but i don't have a million dollars…

  7. I wish I'd known all this sooner. I used Ticketmaster to get tickets to a Great Van Fleet concert (I myself didn't have an issue with buying tickets, but still) and now I feel awful, like I fed into this monopoly.

  8. I ran into the exact same problem with a different concert on Ticketmaster. It is a systemic problem.

  9. I went to see a concert recently and once we arrived at the venue waiting in line to get in, someone who worked there announced that they had a huge issue with fraudulent ticket sales for this particular show and to make sure you bought your ticket at this specific website. My friend bought his ticket only a few days before the show so we checked his ticket to make sure it had the correct website on it. It did, we thought we were fine. It ended up being a fake ticket that he paid $125 for and they wouldn’t let him in the venue bcuz it was sold out. Mine & my boyfriend’s ticket were luckily legit, because I would’ve thrown myself out into traffic if I couldn’t get in that show to see my favorite song get played live. My friend rode in the car over and hour with us to get to the concert and had to take an extremely expensive Uber back home, I felt SO BAD for him omg.

  10. 15:40 Aw man, this is like the show's trademark line.
23:12 Ohhh wow, the diatribe you put here until the end of the episode is one of the most fluent and truest I've heard from you. Hoping at the very least a great number of us viewers get what we're dealing with, and yes, Ticketmaster operates in Mexico, too.

  11. Have you done a video on NewEgg yet? You should do a Corporate Casket on NewEgg. Or at least research it. I've found some CRAP on them while going through a shady return.

  12. You clearly dont understand how the music industry works 🤣 every segment had multiple parts that were just plain false. I get that you're trying to make a point here but you don't need to constantly lie to your audience

  13. Ticketmaster are a problem in the UK too, they are aggressive to say the least with the way they conduct their business, they are not a monopoly here but they do try and buy up as many tickets as possible and resell them T very high rates, the contact telephone number was also a semi premium rate line but the EU banned this for companies to charge premium rate for customer support but now the UK is out of the EU, the premium rate phone lines used by companies are making a come back and people are getting ripped off because Ticketmaster keeps people on hold for so long on purpose

  14. ugh for the rbd concert, all tickets were gone to resellers and even the most cheapest seats are over 100+… this was only for presales and now general public is about to come out and most of the seats are all gone :/

  15. This isn't a solution, but it's something. I bought an extra ticket to a show I liked so I could sell it at face-value to another fan (I'm super active on a fan forum so this is pretty easy to both sell and make sure it's going to an actual fan) and keep it from scalpers since I'll do the sale/transfer a few days before or the day of the show. I hope ticketmaster gets broken up, it sucks fans have to do all this nonsense to try and get tickets at the price they're meant to be sold at

  16. This is why punk is dead.
All my favorite bands were "small."
I never see them touring anymore.

    They're destroying the people's voice.
