An endling is the last known individual of a species or subspecies. Once the endling dies, the species becomes extinct. When a species goes extinct is can be a very sad occasion and this is especially the case when we can’t do anything about it. In this video i will be covering some individuals that were the last of their species as i will be going over 3 of the most famous endlings over the past few hundred years.

california?
Dodo
Part 2 please.
Such sad endings, kinda like Attack on Titan: going out not with a bang, but a moan.
Part two please
If they're gonna bring back extinct species, they should bring back the Carolina Parakeet
California Condor? Was almost extinct in the 80s. Bald eagles also. How about videos about those. They were almost extinct at the same time. Along with Buffaloes
👀
I think the heath hen had an endling named Boomer
such a shame
OMG thank you so much, I didn't know there are Carolina Parakeets in Red Dead Redemption 2! Very good video as always btw
Part 2 please
3:47 you said California instead of Carolina
Proof read goes a long way!
I hope the Treefrog and Thylacine are still alive somewhere super hidden and safe.
That was a very interesting video.
Lonesome George?
Keep promoting the ban live feeding petition, please ❤
A sad fact about the Thylacine known as Benjamin, was that he reportedly died due to neglect.
I'm sorry, i had little giggle for "This pouch covers the Testicle, which is come in handy when it's cold"
Part 2, part 3, just keep going! You have one of the most unique and finest channels on YouTube.
We know, humans are the most destructive thing on Earth no wonder virus is our main enemy just to keep our population check, good thing we are now on process of reviving some of the extinct animals that indirectly and directly went extinct because of us.
Australian dingo will be hunted trapped and baited to extinction with government paying bounties for every killed dingo to encourage sheep farmers to increase stock sizes.
Grew up in the Carolinas. Truly wish I could have seen a Carolina Parakeet.
The Australian native dingo was not introduced as first believed but evolved in Australia after migrating across a former land bridge when sea levels were much lower and is now purposely being eradicated in Australia by government subsidised 1080 baiting and bounties payed for every dingo killed for the sole purpose of allowing sheep graziers to increase stock numbers. In most environments in south eastern Australia the dingo is now locally extinct.
having a pouch to stick your nuts in when it is cold.. i think us brits can agree that is a good perk right now
Its so sad…but yes part 2 please. We need talk about it 🕊
Glad Martha was at least mentioned, she's the one I've heard the most about.
Great channel, please give us a part 2! I can't waute any longer. =)
3:47 Okay.. I don't want to be that guy, but you said Californian Parakeet.. I don't want to sound like that one person who calls everything out but I just wanted you to be aware
Although it's really sad, especially when these species reproduce and the young end up dying, I really liked this video. You could also do more videos about recent endlings that made sort of a comeback, that would be really cool too
When I was a kid I went Duck hunting in the flooded timber along the Choctawhatchee river with my uncle. Kind of a slow with not many birds flying so when this big woodpecker flew in and lit on a tree in front of me I shot it.
I’ll be honest I thought it was a Pileated woodpecker but looking at I saw it was much bigger then a Pileated and had a heavy cream colored bill a to much white on its wings
Showed it to my uncle and he said Good Lord! Thats an Ivory Bill and they are extinct!
I was an Amateur Taxidermist and wanted to mount it but he said we were probably looking at a big fine and maybe even having our guns confiscated if we got caught, was shooting a nice Winchester model 12 I had got for my birthday so I sure didn’t want that so we just buried it in the backyard
I did go back later and dig up the skull
I have always wondered if I killed the last Ivory Bill
Please add Passenger pigeons to the video
its always the most interesting species
1:42 bro this is a game called red dead 2 💀💀💀
Steller sea cow Caribbean monk seal
why doesn't Arny wish us well anymore?
Your channel is consistently interesting. Thanks for doing the research and producing these videos.
Did you know in the game Read Dead Redemption 2, if you kill enough Carolina parakeets, it will tell you that they've become extinct.
3:47 lol California parakeet
This shit breaks my heart on a level that can never be expressed
Hoe about a se ries of video about potential endings or potential ending group?
May be good for school teachers who want to bring awareness to protection when it's not completely too late.
Let’s hope that scientist bring them back
❤️💖 🦜 I feel sad, ashamed and heartbroken 💔 that the Carolina Parakeet 🦜 went extinct. 😥😢😭 This is all the stupid English settlers, farmers and hunters' faults! They should've known better and acknowledge the concept of extinction. I wished they are still alive this day and what if there is small breeding population living in the unexplored swamps of southeastern North America.
I hoped scientists could do a DNA cloning program to bring the Carolina Parakeet back to life just like the wooly mammoth 🦣 and the thylacine. They could preserved the DNA from Carolina Parakeet specimens and eggs from museums and transplanted it to a surrogate mother of its closely relative like the Sun Conure or the Jandaya parakeet. 🦜 They will trained these young birds how to survived the wild like where to find food, water, shelter, adapt cold climates and avoid predators and could potentially released them in a wildlife national park in eastern America. Sounds crazy, but it could potentially worked! 🦜 💖❤️
The story of the last Kauai oo bird of Hawaii is sad because one of the last sightings it was trying to call for a mate it was singing and singing but no other birds of his species ever came
Did you know there was a 30 foot manitee that went extinct just before the 19th century. I saw a size comparison for it and thought wow that must've been a pre history beast. Nope! stellers sea cow thought it was neat
The hunter is a great fictional movie about hunting the last tasmanian tiger. Got willem dafoe and sam neill
Your baby ate my thylacine…Hey- if Tauki buys a Suzuki, it must be named Sooki. Hold me, I’m so confused…
Wait I know mammoths aren't considered one but what about them or multiple rhino species or the aurochs or can you do a evolution series or extinct mammal series
