ADD A 2.5″ SSD TO A 3.5″ HDD BAY | ROSEWILL ADAPTER

🔥SUBSCRIBE! In this video we’ll use the Rosewill 2.5″ SSD to 3.5″ SATA HDD Adapter Caddy tray to install a 2.5″ SSD into a 3.5″ drive bay in the HP Z820. This adapter will work with any other computer that has pre-installed SATA/SAS and SATA power ports and will work with normal 2.5″ HDD as well.

If you have a PC like the HP Z820 and want to install a 2.5″ drive into the 3.5″ bay, you need an adapter like this. If you get an adapter without the port, it will not work. This adapter has the ports off-set just like a normal 3.5″ HDD.

  1. Here's a puzzle I haven't been able to solve. Supposedly you can't "split" a SATA data cable so each drive has to plug into a separate data port on the motherboard. But Asus VivoPCs accomodate two 2.5 inch drives with their adapter but only have one SATA III 7-pin data port. I'd just order their adapter for $25 but they want to charge an extra $20 to ship from the UK because there apparently is no American distributor. I'd like to accomplish this dual drive setup without purchasing their adapter, but I can't figure out how they split the data stream. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks.

  2. What stupidity omg, you can connect ssd directly to port sata where was placed 3.5 hdd without spent money in that adapter.

  3. If the SSD would actually plug into the backplane of the bay, I really don't like the idea of another connector in series – just another source of problems down the road. HDD trays used to have internal connectors that always resulted in problems so they evolved to the direct HDD connection to the "backplane."

  4. Where do I find HDD sleds? My apevia matrix case I purchased did not come with any and I can’t find any online to put in my hard drive. I’m trying to fit in a Seagate barracuda 3.5 HDD

  5. I figure id throw this out there if someone hasn't already mentioned it, if you have can find those old 80gb velociraptors from wd that had the icepak enclosure you can take the drive out and mount ssds to them sometimes they come up on ebay for around 9 dollars. its what i use on my z800.

  6. Brilliant mate. Just tried the same thing on my z800 and ran into the line up problem. You just saved me a lot of google time. thanks, cheers

  7. Do I need this adapter or does an SSD have the exact same port as a HDD and can I just plug out my hdd and plug in the ssd in the port where my hdd was without the adapter?

  8. Between this video and your 2 videos on installing windows onto a fresh SSD your videos have been extremely helpful at helping me upgrade my old computer that had an HDD crash… Thanks so much!!

  9. ‪@BenoniTech hi, I've seen some of your Z820 videos on YouTube. Ive cloned my Seagate Barracuda harddrive to my new Samsung EVO 840 SSD – which I've connected to the same bay youve used in the video – Seems to work fine, however the Samsung Magician software states it's "not connected to a AHCI controller and Sata interface is not enabled"‬

I've tried connecting the cable to one of the 6G SATA portS: SATA 0 and SATA 1 – but my computer keeps rebooting when it gets to the windows logo, but doesn't actually go into Windows.

I've checked BIOS settings to ensure AHCI is enabled.

    Any advice?
