Bet365 Presents Newmarket Races | Horse Racing at Newmarket Racecourse

Newmarket Racecourse is known for its two tracks, the Rowley Mile Course as well as the July Course. These tracks are different from other ones in that they are not oval-shaped but are shaped like an “L”. The Rowley Mile measures two-and-a half miles and is wider than most others. This makes it an ideal place for larger gallopers. It is mostly uphill with a few steep descents into the famous “Dip” that can upset a lot of competitors. It is also known for being the longest straight in Britain.

As you might have guessed the July Course is the other Newmarket course. It is only for summer races. It measures just over 2 miles and features a right-handed, sweeping turn halfway through. The Rowley Mile suits larger, more galloping individuals and requires stamina and expert timing to be successful.

Simply put, Newmarket horseracing is known worldwide for hosting high-quality events. Newmarket hosts nine of the 36 Group 1 races in Britain each year. That is quite impressive. Two of the five British Classics are featured in the 2000 Stakes. This race is held during the thrilling Guineas Festival and 1000 Guineas Stakes. Both of these races are held on Newmarket’s Rowley Mile. As the season progresses, you’ll find the Falmouth Stakes (both held in July) and the July Cup (both held in September). The Fillie’s Mile and the Sun Chariot Stakes are also held in July. Finally, you’ll find the Cheveley Park Stakes which are held in September. The last two Group 1 events for the year are the Dewhurst Stakes (October) and the Middle Park Stakes (October).

There are so many top-class competitions throughout the year that Newmarket horse racing track has seen many international and domestic champions cross the finish lines. Camelot, a British thoroughbred that Aidan O’Brien trained, won the 2000 Guineas Stakes in 2012. He then went on to win the Epsom Derby, and the Irish Derby. Churchill, an Irish colt, won the Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket, in 2016, before winning the 2000 Guineas in 2017.
