I have been trading since the birth of the Betfair betting exchange – not many professional traders can say that.

It’s that time of the year when Betfair and I celebrate the Betfair Exchange anniversary. Though I now also reflect on how a product that should have transformed the betting industry, has failed to do so.

In this video, I’ll read out the blog post from Mark Davis, ex Betfair director which is a really neat insight into the very start of Betfair.

Since then we have seen the birth of the Betfair App and many other sports trading exchanges. But betting exchanges still remain a niche subset of the sports betting industry.
