Betfair trading – Peter Webb – How you should really be trading on betfair!

I’m often approached by people who try to trade and launch themselves at the market and make a total Horlicks of it. They buy books, courses and spend money on all manner of things before arriving and my door and saying, what am I doing wrong?

Usually, I find they don’t have structure or method to their underlying trading. They are just blundering into the market and letting it bully them into making a decision.

In reality, if you want to trade properly and get to professional Betfair trader status, or even maybe dream of trading for a living on Betfair. You have to get your core trade management right.

This video contrasts by general trading style with that of a failed newbie.

  1. A bit new to this , if i want to lay a horse for the lowest odds can i place a trade for the lowest price early on say 3 hours before the race sorry im a bitnew to this and also never used bet angel as yet cheers

  2. it would be very interesting to know which markets that you , of all people , struggled with and decided not to pursue

  3. One thing that does stand out with these ' demo vids ' is £10 units will always get matched ok. However if you had a £200 / £500 bet sat there waiting to close out the trade the other better , more observant traders keep jumping in front and making it harder , sometimes forcing a red as they ' know ' you're trying to get out.

  4. Hey Peter, I've watched a lot of trading videos, including those where people are using Bet Angel, and I must say this one probably is probably one of the best I've seen. Being able to trade in such a calm manner is undoubtedly a prerequisite. Not letting your emotions or the market control you is the only way you can be successful. My early attempts at trading with Bet Angel mirrored the first part this video. I did exactly the same…chasing all over the ladder trying to reduce my losses and winning nothing. Thank God I was only using £2 stakes, but the damage was more psychological than financial. If anyone wants to learn how to trade properly with Bet Angel I would advise them to go to https://online.betangelacademy.com best move I made 🙂👍

  5. Great video. I did much the same my first week then had a word with myself 😆. I had set a stop loss profits then ignored them. This week has been much better and I went into profit and chose my markets and trades better . In all honesty I think there would always have been a week where I had to do this to teach me a lesson ( as I am very risk adverse by nature ) , so yeah it was very affirming for me to see this today . I am getting there but a very small scale trader whilst learning the ropes.

  6. Why didn't you lay the favourite as it was drifting which was being supported by the 2nd fav coming in? We're there other indicators that made you scalp the third favourite instead? Love to know your thoughts!

  7. When I first looked at this market my thought was that the 2nd fav was coming in and the favourite was drifting so this could be ideal for a swing trade. Would it have been sensible to open with a lay bet on the fav at around 2.74 with a close back bet at about 2.9? This would get more profit than scalping the third favourite? Or was there not enough indicators that the market would move this way? I am just learning at the moment…

  8. I am new to learning trading, I find only your videos are useful to gain knowledge. Thanks Pete !!… Your course scheduling link is down, but I believe they are classroom training and happens in the UK.. are you planning to conduct any online course? I am from Australia.

  9. Thanks for the amazing content you've been sharing with us Peter .
P.S: Toward the end of the video , i couldn't help but imagine how does it feel to be alerted by sound notifications with your own voice on every market you're trading LOL

  10. @7.50 how can the 3rd horse be traded because it's more 'rational', do you mean it could be a good scalping opportunity because it is maintaining a more level trading range?

  11. Hello Peter. Great videos, I'm learning a lot and am nearly ready to start trading. How long before a race starts should I begin monitoring it? Am I right in saying that scalping should only be done in the last few minutes? What about swing-trading? If I want to be trading about 10 races a day, presumably there's only a limit to how much time I can devote to each one? Thanks.

  12. Great video Peter and seen just at the right time. My free trial expires tomorrow and whilst I've only been in practice mode I've struggled thus far. Manage a handful of small greens only for it to wiped out by a single red! This video has encouraged me to take up a subscription and keep persevering (albeit still in practice mode). Keep up the great work Sir and thank you from the beginners.

  13. The only thing I'd say is you talk of different strategies for each market, are you referring to the kinds of races? For instance aren't handicap races more likely to 'spring back', and may be better for scalping than maiden races? This race was a maiden I thought they are more likely to trend. So you're better off trying to work out what is going to shorten and what's going to drift? Rather than scalping it as you have here? I imagine you're going to say there are many other factors which determine how you may want to trade the race. Anyway thanks.

  14. The first financial trader I knew told me that the three things you need to know before you trade are Where. When and Why. Until you have decided all three for good reason, keep your hands in your pockets or better still just get the coffee.

  15. How much money did you make on this by doing it this way? I'm slowly getting to grips with the software but it's very technical from starting with zero knowledge!

  16. Hi Peter, could you do a video about how to trade races when the odds on the first 1st, 2nd, 3rd ,4th horses odds are around the same price and there is no strong leader.

  17. @betangeltv Hi Peter. I've used betangel for the past 24 months or longer and think the software is great. Question. Is there a privacy law preventing 3rd party software providers such as yourself to betfair from looking at how we are using your program?
    Kind regards. Tim, australia
