Brexit: Over 2.5 million sign petition for new EU referendum

Just days after voting to leave the European Union, more than 2.5 million UK residents have signed a petition calling for a second referendum. The British Parliament has to consider a debate on any petition with over 100,000 signatures posted on its website. The proposal was posted before Thursday’s referendum.

  1. And what happens if the result still goes in" LEAVES" favour again???? will we have a 3rd and a 4th Come on now lets move on!!!!! 17.5 million voted leave …….. Do you really want to unhinge "DEMOCRACY"?????

  2. British police have already removed nearly 100,000 signatures because they all had the same post code from the HOUSE OF COMMONS. Another 40,000+ signatures had the post code of Vatican City [these were added within 15 minutes – yep, all 40,000 of them!]. It is an MI5 scam. What do you think MI5 do all day in their posh buildings?

  3. Bid deal.  Over 17 million voted to Leave.  Once you get your stupid petition to match that number, then we can talk.

  4. fools , we have had enough eastern europeans taking jobs , crime up , rapes etc ….this is the Uk and we need to control our borders and insure the correct people get in and benefits should only be paid if you've paid into the system!

  5. I find it very depressing that 2.5 million people don't seem to understand how democracy works.
An 18 million online petition would not overturn a 17 million referendum vote. You vote, and the majority wins. It's not best of 3 or 5, and on this topic it is a binary decision. No compromise position is available.

  6. If there is a 2nd vote and the remain cunts win, can we set up a 3rd petition to overturn that as well .

  7. UK refused the euro and the free movement agreement (Schengen), the brexit is the logical sequel.
The people who organize this petition should respect the polls, even if the result does not go their way, this is the basis of democracy.

Brexit is a great opportunity to rebuild europe, a new europe where England will have its place as a preferred partner, like Sweden for example.

  8. If you don't want to stand in this world as a whining whimp, you don't do another referendum.

I suggest following solution. Pronounce a Pro European and an Anti European candidate for your elections in 3 month. And decide there which path to go.
That way you have your second referendum and can keep your face as determined brits.

A second referendum would cause more havoc then to go with an unpleasent decision to dig yourself out from.

  9. OK, I propose to create a petition to blame all those who voted for the wrong candidates who have destroyed our country by their bad policy. In England, like in France, and all of the others country which fall because of their navel gazing.

  10. How about we keep on having referendums until they get the result that suits. We could do the same for general elections as well or how about we do away with elections and have bureaucrats make all the decisions for us. I think the European Union mainly does that already.

  11. It's over and done with. However, this perfectly illustrates the left's idea of democracy – if the democratic choice of the people doesn't suit your ideology, then keep doing it until it does. If that means preventing old people, "stupid" people, and the white working class from voting next time, then so be it. That is actually what we are hearing from some of these arseholes now. The fascist left in all its glory.

By the way, has anyone started a petition to lay to rest any challenges to the democratic choice we have made i.e. a counter-petition to the ludicrous call for a second referendum?

  12. According to Paul Joseph Watson, the source codes have shown a massive amount of these "on line protesters" are actually from outside the UK!!
Get your facts straight before claiming these people are all UK "voters"..

  13. Even if they regret it now. It's too late. The decided so they should go through with it. It was a democratic vote, the majority wins, simple as that.

  14. Give it up, ain't gonna happen.

And correct your description you idiots. This petition is completely false because anyone from any place in the world can sign up.

  15. Liberals are having a hard time dealing with the fact that the Brits got tired of non elected people in Brussels making decision for them on how to run their country

  16. The people have already voted. 48% v 52% may seem close, but in reality the difference is made up of 1.3M votes. That's a huge amount.

Those calling for a second referendum so that they can get the result they want are making themselves look like immature, bad losers.

I can imagine that if the result was reversed and the Remain campaign received 52% of the vote, that they would be very happy with the outcome and would not contest it. What a double standard!

Asking for a second referendum is very arrogant. It's like saying the result is wrong and voters didn't know what they were doing.

This is incorrect. There was a huge turnout for this referendum because people feel passionately about the subject. This is democracy in action, which leads to results that some people don't like.

Why offer people a vote in the first place?

What is also worrying are the reports that some of those who have signed the petition for a second referendum live OUTSIDE of the EU! It beggars belief!

  17. That petition is practically meaningless, ANYONE can sign it, and AS MANY TIMES AS you like, all you need is an email address and a fake UK post code! WHAT A JOKE! lol

  18. SO THE PETITION WAS FIXED THEY WERE SENDING OUT UK POST CODES ON TWITTER AROUND THE WORLD & EUROPE FOR THEM TO VOTE

  19. Any Guy or Girl can vote on this petition, u dont have to be britan for that. And the Medias still show the petition, what a Joke World………………….
