Harry Skelton and Paul Nicholls, crowned champion jockey and trainer earlier in the day, were denied a dream end to the season when Enrilo lost the bet365 Gold Cup in the stewards’ room, with Potterman the beneficiary.
When Skelton, who had picked up the trophy for being leading rider for the first time, got a big leap out of Enrilo at the last, he looked to have sealed the deal.
However Enrilo veered badly away from the rail in the closing stages with serious consequences for Kitty’s Light, who the stewards ruled would have won but for the interference. As such, they acted according to the rules and demoted the first-past-the-post to finish behind the horse who had been interfered with, promoting Potterman – who had kept a straight course – to first place.

But the hampered partnership was not given the race because the interference also led being beaten a whisker, literally, for 2nd past the post… definitely a rule to be altered with even a micro of intelligence concerning fair-play. Perhaps amusing, the vid has had two ads inserted…
I'm surprised they did anything. I've seen much worse go unpunished.
Nicholls horse stumbled then impeded..but why didn't kittys light get the win…😕

The only question is would Enrilo off found more as Enrilo was idling or did Enrilo have nothing left. We will never know. Great race though. The second to last was where Enrilo lost it though. It’s racing though

I would not have dq'd the best horse in the race. I never understand why my view differs from the stewards. You end up paying off a winner who is unjustified. This was borderline.
