🌳 Protected or restored almost 22,000 square kilometres of land and ocean.
That’s roughly the same size as Wales!

🚗 Reduced, avoided or captured over 380,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
That’s the equivalent of 83,000 cars over a year! 

♻️ Removed, upcycled or avoided almost 75,000 tonnes of waste.
That’s the equivalent of about 375 Boeing 747 planes!

💨 Avoided over 95,000 kg of harmful Nitrogen Oxide gases, and over 3,600 kg of particulate matter.
Both of which create long term health issues.

🌊Saved, reused or recycled over 2.5 million tonnes of water.
That’s enough to fill 1,000 Olympic size swimming pools.

👷🏼‍♀️ Created over 700 new climate and environmental jobs and directly improved the livelihoods of over 4.3 million people, whether they be workers, customers or citizens.

Over the last ten years, the evidence that we face urgent challenges to protect the environment has become indisputable, and it’s clear that the time to act is now. Drawing inspiration from the concept of moonshots, which since the moon landing in 1969 has become shorthand to talk about the most ambitious and ground-breaking goals, Prince William announced The Earthshot Prize: an ambitious set of challenges to inspire a decade of action to repair the planet.
