  1. Ego has amazing products no doubt. I think it's very important to help future consumers know exactly what they are potentially getting into. I personally own the Select Trimmer Mower, the Dual Stage Snowblower, and the Line IQ trimmer. All of which I've been extremely pleased with. I recently had a problem with the 10AH mega battery that came with the mower. After only a few months of actual use, after following all manufacturer's recommendations, the unit has severely decreased its output time. I get less than 20 minutes of run time before all lights flash red and the battery dies. This is where Ego goes from amazing to near industry worst. Ego customer service is terrible. It was worse than Verizon wireless in their heyday of terrible. If you don't believe this assessment, check out the complaints Ego has through the BBB and Trustpilot. Ego had received extremely poor ratings through both of these organizations. Great products, but when things go bad, as they do at times, Ego customer service guided by strict policy falls flat.

  2. Thanks for the battery review! I'm new to the EGO products, but just bought an used EGO lawnmower with an older 7.5 AH battery (no charge gauge), a new trimmer with a 4 AH battery and a new 2 stage snowblower with 2 new 7.5 AH batteries. You mentioned not letting batteries drain all the way before charging and I have been reading the same thing. I have also read it is best to NOT charge them to 100%. Don't remember you mentioning that. Also….have read that it is best to charge them with a slower charger vs the rapid charger (overheats the batteries a bit and that reduces their life). Any thoughts? Thanks again! Good stuff!

  3. Slow charge is better as well for life of battery. Charger that came with your blower is the one to use as opposed to the faster one with mower.

  4. Have you noticed any battery deterioration over the years? Still last the same amount of time while using it after a full charge?

  5. I have had major issues with my EGO latest generation batteries. Three separate battery failures within a year, including the warranty replacement battery. All of the failures are with the latest gen batteries with the 'fuel gauge'. I haven't had an issue at all with my earlier gen battery. My lovely local hardware story said quite a few have returned batteries with the same or similar issues to me – the battery flashes red and won't run, even if its charge is good/full. Thankfully, my local hardware store replaced my faulty batteries out of their own stock (earlier gen batteries, more reliable) as EGO was very slow to respond to warranty requests in Australia. I plan to sell my EGO chainsaw, line trimmer and mower as I am to stressed over the failures. I only use my gear maybe twice a week, so this is just not acceptable. I love the equipment (just amazing stuff) but what is the use of good equipment if the batteries keep failing. EGO knows that this is an issue as they apparently have replaced the internal cells with a different brand and there have been many issues…

  6. When not using the batteries is it ok to keep them on the charger? Not using the battery for a month I noticed it's flashing red.

  7. I have one each, a 10, 5 and 2.5Ah EGO battery, and I don’t really use them during Winter months. Right now the three chargers are mounted on a wooden board on the wall of my garage, near the sliding door (the coldest area of the garage). For Winter storage, is it best to remove them from the chargers and, for example, place them all on a shelf on the house side of my garage? Also, should I deplete them some, or just leave them fully charged for the next several months? Thanks for any help.

  8. I owned one of these for many years. This one was for my daughter. It will do a great job on powder snow snowblower.space however deep, as long as you stay ahead of it. Very reliable and well built. Since it is electric It also eliminates any starting issues or the need to store gasoline. The downside is heavy, wet snow.

  9. I have the new style battery with the button on the top with the built in charge meter. When storing the batteries, do I have to hold that button down on the battery to turn it off. Or is that button strictly to check the state of charge? Thanks for any info

  10. Get them off the concrete floor. Put a mat or something underneath.
The negative ground of the ground can be damaging, by reducing the storage charge too low.
My other batteries actually warn of this in their manuals.

  11. I have a 2.5 EGO battery for my trimmer that will not charge anymore, any idea's how to revive it . I have another 2.5 that i recently purchased with the blower .

  12. My question is where do I put the battery, for example, say I have a fully charged battery and use my blower for only 15 minutes; do I leave the battery on the blower? Do I put it back onto the charger and leave it til the next week? Do I just sit it on the floor?
Can I store it on the UNPLUGED charger?

  13. Are you saying that it is bad for the battery to use the tool until the battery is depleted? Yet, you said (at 2:24) "So, I use the battery until it's depleted, I'll bring it down here (your basement), I'll leave it to cool off, then I'll stick it on the charger." What I'm wondering is this: Should I stop using the tool and change the battery when the battery is simply getting low – but not completely depleted?

Also, is it OK to leave the battery on the charger when the battery is basically in storage – in the winter, for instance, when I typically do not need many of these tools? You mentioned something about "storage mode."
