FAIL! DRZ400 Moose Racing Adventure Seat Solo Low Profile install review (2018)

Moose Racing Adventure Seat Solo – Low Profile DRZ400 install and review

As everyone knows, the stock seats on dual-sports are very narrow and uncomfortable to ride on for long periods of time, so I ordered a Moose Racing Adventure Seat Solo – Low Profile to see how it will do.

Well, I am VERY disappointed with just about everything about the seat (except for the covering) the seat base is a poor design with zinc coated metal tabs that rub against METAL on the gas tank of all places, and the lower hook near the CDI box is also metal. That is not the worst part, the rear tabs that bolt the seat on were almost 1/2” too narrow and the rubber feet that keep the seat elevated above the frame and airbox were over 1/4” too high and the trim looked horrible with the huge gap above the side panels. Total FAIL all the way around.

For a $355 seat, you’d expect a lot better quality… I rate this seat a 1 star out of 5, the seat material and foam was nice, but that is about it.

A full review of the DR-Z400 will follow after I’ve owned it a few weeks.

  1. Boy I'm glad I just watched this. I had this thing in my cart ready to make the purchase. I seen you have another video of a drz seat I'm going to check out. I'm need a wider more comfortable seat and would like it to be a tad lower. I'm 6ft 1 inch 250lbs and with my custom tuned firmer suspension I had to put in a lowering link just to touch the tips of my toes. But I'm tired of riding a 2×4 around. I think they made my suspension a lil to stiff tho I'm going to have to tweak it a bit maybe you can make a video for me on how to make adjustments? I own a magician 250 also and watched your vids on making spacers for the front forks and it worked perfectly. Thank you for all of these vids.

  2. Looks like you are not putting your bottom seat tab under your tank/ frame latch. You shouldn’t have that 3/4” Gap from the bottom of your seat to the top of the plastic. If you didn’t get it below the tab it wouldn’t be lower yet nearly an inch higher. The way you were trying to install it, looked to me like that’s a high possibility. Forget the tank tab until the bottom seat tab is under the frame/tank tab. Then as you push it on in, you then guide the upper tank tab into place. Looks like you never pushed down in the “crotch” area of the seat enough as you were trying to install it.

  3. Take your original seat, pull off the upholstery, lose the cushion, purchase a purple seat cushion, cut to fit, reupholster, works incredible and lowers seat height… Long term ride which is what we’re all looking for, good videos guy.
