A scam is spreading through California colleges where fake students are registering for classes to receive financial aid money. As a result of this fraud, we could be losing billions of dollars.

My guest today is Kim Rich, Professor of Criminal Justice at Pierce College. Today she will explain how she discovered this fraud and her speculation on why the school district hasn’t taken enough action.

  1. OMG! This is fraud on an unprecedented level! Billions of $ being stolen, but it provides fakes students so that the colleges make money from fraud!
Remember, there was also an unprecedented unemployment insurance fraud where incarcerated inmates made lots of money too– billions wasted!
We live in a one-party Democratic state- our only option as taxpayers is to vote to throw all Democrats out for the next tens years from office– that might help.

  2. Every single Community College administrator who ignored this issue needs to be prosecuted for malfeasance and be fired and lose all pensions.

  3. Where were the State Inspector Generals and internal auditors on this? Did she report this info to them, and what was the response (having been one myself).

  4. The practice of using duplicate id numbers and info is also used in election fraud and years ago I also found that a 700 employee firm had hundreds using the same social security number. They had a lot of Mexican workers (in California) who shared one number to sign up all their relatives as dependents to qualify for the employee "family" insurance benefits

  5. And Bernie wants everyone to go to college and make fraud like this widespread and have all of us pay for it too. 🤦‍♂️

  6. so while resources are actively used to deny assistance to Whites in need (affirmative action and quotas), no resources at all are used to find and punish fraud. yup, that's how racist democrats manage.

  7. student financial aid fraud has most probably happened before COVID-19 times too …. it's can happen at the college's and school's office and management levels … wanna know how and why? investigate educational facilities financial aids offices, where it's not very difficult to create fake student IDs and receive money from the government in faked names and IDs … a similar case may have also been going on in the Cash Aid department of EDD and similar government departments for example … investigate into this one as well and you'll probably be surprised with what you may find … been there a number of times and met suspicious people working there … very suspicious!

  8. Some of those "fake students" belong to religious cults. Real people that will show up to classes and do the assignments – but they aren't really there to be "students." They are there to befriend other students and lure them into joining their group. Their favorite and easiest targets are foreign students – a great amount of those arrive with a very weak social support network – prime pickings for the wolves.

  9. To be honest, I have taken many classes at Sacramento City College. By the end of the semester, classes would dwindle to 10 students out of 50 students. To make sure the actual student is getting the financial is to have them come to the financial aide office in person and have the students show current school enrollment and ID. Pass out the financial aide in three increments. I feel many students are not very serious and just drop out of school. The students just want the financial aide monies.

  10. I do not want California to get it's act together, I want California to go down in a huge ball of screaming flaming destruction, California can serve now only as an example of what not to do.
