I'm not a trader (yet) but I am a Spurs fan. And I can tell you from bitter experience another strategy is to lay Spurs at home in a game where we're favourites. This weekends game against Wolves is a great example at 1.45. We've conceded first in our first 2 games so far. Obviously a small sample size but Spurs do this sort of thing a lot historically.

Serious note I am doing some tests on teams and clubs using historic strengh using the old style point system . 0 for a los 1 for a draw 2 for a win. It changes one perspective on how strong a team realy is. you can have a team drawing 10 games and you end up with 10 points (1 points average ) or you have a team losing 7 but winning 3 and you get 9 points (0.9 average) not much of a difference and not a real indicator of strengh of the team.
Having the old 2 point a win you get 10 points for the first average 1 and for the second team 6 points for the average of 0.6 that is huge difference .
Now do the alternate calculation on previous seasons take the total of a previous 5 seasons average points a number apears . now ad for the home team the home table results ( do the same as total tables ) you get a base line and then add the form of the team for the past 5 games ( this will adjust the static results to a dynamic result like an amplitudal modulation ) do the same for the away team only for the away team ad the away table instead of the home . look at the average or total strengh of both ( what is more convienant for you) it should give a good reference which team is the stronger and in form team .
Then you look at average games lost per season home or away. for example gives you an indication on how teams perform in that matter ,
And finaly the results between the teams , over their entire history home or away . and that one realy adjust the view of both teams . as some teams have a bit of rivelry or like to punch up against the top half teams .
You can refine this even more tables in a sheet , average goals scored , most scored results , Times first , goal scored . all the things you need , but as a layered cake of information like a true heading and course of your ship. your course might be 270 degrees with a a ten knot speed but magnetic deviation of your ship , variation of the earth magnetic field winds, currents speeds and direction , you might find you need to speed up 5 knot and have a heading of 298 to follow the course you set out .
