India’s space agency ISRO launched its homegrown Chandrayaan-3 moon mission from Sriharikota, at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre. Chandrayaan-3 comprises a lander, propulsion module and rover. Its aim is to safely land on the lunar surface, collect data and conduct a series of scientific experiments to learn more about the moon’s composition. If successful, India will become only the fourth country to successfully land a spacecraft on the moon, joining the Soviet Union, the United States and China.
