Milwaukee M12 High Output CP 2.5 Vs All CPs And XCs

Does the new HO CP 2.5 live put to the claims?

The 3.0 I tested was a counterfeit, Update video with a new 3.0

  1. How come the 5.0 High output batteries in the US are called 5.0 XC high output but here in the UK we dont have XC, just 5.0 High output?
Also the batteries seem so damn expensive in the states. A 2.5 high output is $80 in the US but only £35 in the UK ($42) and the 5.0 high output is $120 in the US, but in the UK the 5.0 is only £50 or around $61.
Just seems strange to me as i would think Milwaukee being a US company that the batteries would be cheaper for you guys. That being said it seems like the tools themselves are cheaper for you guys across the pond

  2. Perfect video. THANK YOU. All these battery reviews are people seeing what will run a fan for the longest or what screws in the most screws or some BS and then not opening the packs up at all. Every single one. Too scared to open the pack up or maybe they're gonna return it at the end of the video. Waste of time. This is how it's done right. Definitely subscribed

  3. Is it possible to test how many Amps they're actually capable of discharging at, at say 100%, 50%, and 25%?. I'd guess that's almost more important in many use cases.

  4. Can you do a similar test with Ryobi's new standard and HP batteries. I actually haven't found anyone who has opened up the new Ryobi batteries to see what cells are in them.

  5. Is best single battery for 3453-20 impact XC 4.0? I just want to own one battery for home use.

  6. Would you recommend using the new 2.5amp HO battery in my m12 cut off tool, or just stick to either a larger 4amp or 6 amp HO battery instead. ? just curious as i would love to keep my tool compact why i was heading towards the new 2.5 amp HO battery THINKING it may have the same out put as the larger 4amp/6amp battery. WHAT i did notice for others out there reading this when i used a normal 3amp battery on my m12 cut off tool and free rev the tool it was and sounded weaker without load then compared to the other larger 4/6 amp batteries, showing stronger sound..

  7. The 5.0 HO has noticeably higher RPM in my Gen3 Impact and spot blower than the 6.0. Really surprised at the difference with the spot blower. Will be interested to see some real world testing on it.

  8. I stand corrected. Those are the 25S Samsungs. I thought initially they were 25R's. The 25S has a max continuous discharge rate of 25A, the 25R has a 20A max, and the 30Q has a 15A max draw. That's the difference. Now that I have that figured out lol, I would say these are worth the extra 10$ Not enough difference to go crazy over vs. a 3ah. But definitely a better cell. Thanks for the retest. Interested in seeing how the new 5 compares to the 4 & 6 when they are actually attainable.

  9. All CP 3.0 batteries use either LG HG2 or Samsung INR-18650 30Q cells. Whoever you bought the CP 3.0 from swapped in a 2.0 cell pack. You really need to take this video down as you are merely testing the 2.5 against a fake 3.0.

  10. What I find interesting is the 2 CP 3.0 batteries I have are LG HG2 batteries. I bought these batteries in May of 2022 from Grainger. The only date code I could find was on the circuit board and it is 01/2016. Maybe the older cp3.0 batteries got the chocolate batteries and newer models received the cells that are in your cp3.0s. We will never know. Thanks for the great testing!

  11. WOuld love to see this done again with a legitimate CP3.0…ALWAYS check your batteries folks. It takes less than a minute to check them.

  12. you have a fake cp 3.0ah battery right there. I personally open up all my batteries to see the cells and all my m12 cp 3.0 ah battery have either samsung 30q, which is the same cells in the m12 6.0ah battery and some of my m12 cp3.0 batteries have sony vtc6 cells. Your test also shows that you cp3.0 battery only has 2.0ah of capacity. Your cp3.0 has some off brand cheep low end low discharge 2.0ah cells instead of name brand high discharge 3.0ah cells.

  13. Very interesting test, thank you for sharing! I was really excited to pick these up and I see a huge difference between the compact high output and other compact batteries. The HO hits hard like an XC pack would. I’m really excited about them because I often find myself wanting the smallest form factor but unwilling to sacrifice peak performance. Overall I’m extremely happy with my HO batteries.

  14. Could I take the cheap 18650s out of my CP1.5 & replace them with Samsung 30q's???
My only thought is will the circuitry hold up..?

  15. Awesome video. The 25% cooler likely means the cells themselves. Since you are measuring the outside casing which is used to dissipate the heat, a higher case temperature can mean it is drawing the heat out better keeping the cells cooler. Ultimately if you keep the cells under 80C they get more current output and lower voltage sag.

  16. I'm pretty confident the CP3.0 in this video is a counterfeit. To start, it's got the wrong cells, highly unlikely for MW to make a mistake like that. The M12 logo looks off, just like how they look on counterfeits. Your pack only says "3.0", it should say "CP3.0". Your pack also does not have the screw on the bottom of the base like the new HO CP2.5. MW started putting the screw on the bottom of CP packs with the CP3.0.

EDIT: I did find photos of early CP3.0s (from consumers) that did say only 3.0 instead of CP3.0 but they all did have the bottom screw construction. My oldest CP3.0 was made early 2018 & it says CP3.0 like all my other ones. CP3.0 & XC6.0 were both released at the same time so they all should have Samsung 30Q cells.

  17. I think we need a higher drain test to expose the weakness of the different cells… maybe a 5, 10 and 20 Amp test for the CP, and a 40 Amp test just for the XC batteries. I’ve seen testing where the 4.0 XC outperforms the 6.0 XC when used on tools.

  18. yes Samsung 15M failure
i seen a lot of XC 6.0 go bad
the issue are 3 cells stand up that have all kind of issue.

XC 4.0 and CP 2.0 are rock solid
don’t see any issue beside customers damage there case
i use them since 2018, no issue
