Moneyball. Brad Pitt stars in this film about Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane and his attempt to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players. Oakland A’s general manager Billy Beane (Brad Pitt) challenges the system and defies conventional wisdom when his is forced to rebuild his small-market team on a limited budget. Despite opposition from the old guard, the media, fans and their own field manager (Philip Seymour Hoffman), Beane – with the help of a young, number-crunching, Yale-educated economist (Jonah Hill) – develops a roster of misfits…and along the way, forever changes the way the game is played.

  1. Anyone who's seen the Oceans movies has GOT to love that "turning the odds on the casino line from Rusty- er… I mean Brad Pitt

  2. This scene is funny but its also a master class in how not to lead an organization. Keeping your team in the dark and not listening to the professionals around you is bad leadership. This group warns him that Jeremy Giambi is a bad idea for multiple reasons, he simply ignores them because he knows better. What happens? He ends up having to get rid of Giambi halfway through the seasons for reasons these guys brought up. A team that poor cant make those kinds of mistakes.

  4. This is pure proof of ppl relying on their own intelligence instead of seeing a new better way to look at things

  5. Moneyball is all well and good but it's been proven it doesn't work to win championships, and also Moneyball wasn't about having no money, the Oakland A's owner has money, he's a billionaire, he's just a cheap bastard who doesn't care about winning or the fans

  6. Why are the scouts in the room? Billy didn't need them to be. He can go get those guys all by himself. He's the GM.
A hit sure as hell does mean more than a walk. A hit scores a guy from second or third. A walk does neither. A hit gives the defense a chance to make an error that helps you even more. A walk does not. How many runs are scored in a season on walks? How many are scored on hits? I rest my case!

  7. One of the reasons I love this scene and watch over and over, is that besides Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill, no one else looks like a Hollywood actor, like they were picked right out of the Oakland A scouting staff. Makes the whole scene especially authentic.
