NISSAN ALTIMA RANDOMLY WON’T ACCELERATE ABOVE 25MPH!!








In today’s video we take a look at a2015 Nissan Altima w/ a 4 cyl 2.5l engine. The customer complaint is that the accelerator pedal will randomly stop working while driving and the vehicle will not go over 20mph! The owner has already replaced the throttle body and the accelerator pedal sensor assembly. There are no codes or DTCs stored in the computer, so we have to figure this one out the hard way! We catch a break when we realize the brake lights are intermittently getting stuck on! Follow along as I walk you step by step through my troubleshooting and diagnostic procedure.   1. Had a similar situation with my Jeep Compass.

    It started randomly decelerating on the highway. After getting it towed, I believed I needed to take it to the dealership to get a full diagnostic. Various people speculated on the solution: a new Actuator, a new starter, gas detox, a new battery etc etc

    Fast forward I got referred to a mobile mechanic from a coworker. He visited my car that wouldn't crank and tested it for free. Then did a deep clean on the battery getting rid of all corrosion. It worked good as new. He only charged 80 bucks, whereas anyone else could have been $300-700 easily.

  2. I am having this same issue with my car. I am having a hard finding a break light switch relay. Any recommendations?

  3. Mines doing the exact same thing but it was my up down shift switch. I don't understand how these newer cars with all this technology can't even throw a code when a problem arises.

  4. And this ,folks, is just one of the ever problematic headaches, that computer controlled cars these days create. Never had to deal with this particular issue before. So many things being monitored electronically by computer.Even something as simple as this issue.Just another way to have to spend more money on car repairs and maintainance. 😡

  5. Need help, 2013 Nissan Altima Brake light stays on only when I have lights on very similar to the brake switch issue but only when I have the lights on. Any help would appreciated. I already replaced all the mentioned parts issue persist

  6. OMG MINE DID THIS SAME THING I HAVE A 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 …if it’s low on transmission fluid you want have no power and want go anywhere at all please check the. Transmission fluid and you’ll be good to go there’s some kind of sensor in there that put a stop to the vehicle if it’s low on transmission fluid

  7. I’m having the same issues with my car ….engine rpm is not going past 1600rpm at neutral. Same goes when car is in Drive mode (D)….however the issue has just popped up and is there continuously not intermittent like this video…also no traction control light pops up nor does the check engine light pop up…any suggestions apart from the brake switch?

  9. What could it be if sometimes when decelerating like getting off highway, the engine briefly dies then will restart?

  10. My thought process was running right with you. Excellent idea to record data, that I didn't think of, norm I would ride and watch. And also, I was thinking unplug one switch and watch the scanner to figure out which one of the is sw/1 or sw/2. Fantastic brother!!! Nailed it. Much thanks for the video and some new knowledge !

  11. As soon as you pointed out that the break lights were on i had a feeling it had to do with the switches. I was driving a brand new ford escape, and i was fooling around and pressed both gas and break pedals and noticed after a few seconds the engine wouldnt accelerate properly which made me understand that modern vehicles have that feature. Still a difficult diagnostic if you dont know what you're doing.
