LYRICS
Stare at a wall that’s told a thousand tragedies
Holding a hand that’s loved every part of me
A lady comes and tells me that I gotta leave
Right away everybody is the enemy
Deep breaths from the room where I watch you lie
Any beat from your heart gets me through the night
You’re my love, you’re my death, you’re my alibi
Say this isn’t goodbye

Who’s gonna drive me home tonight?
Who’s gonna argue ’til they win the fight?
You’re the only one that knows how to operate
My heavy machinery

Don’t let the light go out…

A rush of blood floods hot thoughts in my head
Red roses sitting silently beside the bed
Are saying more right now than I ever said
Don’t wanna live if the thought of loving you is dead

Who’s gonna drive me home tonight?
Who’s gonna argue ’til they win the fight?
You’re the only one that knows how to operate
My heavy machinery, so…
Who’s gonna drive me home tonight?
Who’s gonna argue ’til they win the fight?
You’re the only one that knows how to operate
My heavy machinery

Don’t let the light go out…

  1. This song makes me think of my mother, / my girlfriend. Weird I know. Lol.. It’s absolutely so beautiful, I feel he’s fearing a death of someone, and they’re fighting and fighting for their life together or just in general. This is became my all time favorite. One of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard.

  2. It's a beautiful song it's a shame that the video is garbage somebody professional should have done it they could have done so many good things with this video

  3. This song is everything for me right now….gut retching loss whether it be death or A break up…. this song is beautiful but hits hard xx

  4. Man! Has hints of early 60's pop with a very distinct chorus, and some 80's nostalgia in there too with the electric guitar solo, the layered back up singers, the horns are very subtle but they're there. This is the best song I've heard in a LONG time.

  5. I'm almost 4 weeks post partum after delivering my angel babies. I'm struggling so bad and was having heavy thoughts of ending everything. Then I heard this song and it stopped me in my tracks because it made me think of my husband and how he would feel if I did let the light go out, almost as if he's singing this song to me. He's already lost his unborn sons, I can't make him go through losing his wife too. Something about Brendons voice is very comforting and I can't pin point what it is, but thank God he came out with this song because I literally can't go through with it now.

  6. My husband and I finally had our 2 year delayed wedding ceremony last week at a beach in Hawaii. We got in the car and this came on the radio. As it ended, he said it's ultimate wedding song. It's sad and heartbreaking, so I didn't understand what he meant at first. Then, I realized it symbolizes how we feel toward one another, and the fear we have of losing the other person, especially "you're the only one who knows how to operate my heavy machinery", which I translate to "no one else knows how to fix me when I'm broken." So, yeah, ultimate wedding song.

  7. This reminds me of Some Guys have all the Luck by Rod Stewart – especially the bridge – or maybe it's just me? 😅 Great song though!

  8. Mike from Elk Grove California Age 64. Just saw the group perform on Kelly Clarkson Show, this song is a hit, OUTSTANDING GROUP, sad, slow, romantic, slow dancing music (we need more of these songs to come back, this is real music you can dance to from your hearts 💕. Brings back memories, leather jackets, definitely a worthy group going far!!!
