In a packed edition of Racing Weekly, Rishi Persad and Sam Turner are joined by tipster and all-round Irish racing expert Johnny Ward to look back at a remarkable weekend of racing at Leopardstown and the Dublin Racing Festival. The chaps touch on performances from Honeysuckle, Sir Gerhard, Chacun Pour Soi, Galopin Des Champs, Conflated, Facile Vega and Vauban as Sunday saw a host of short-priced favourites go in for punters.
Johnny and Sam give us their insights on how the racing will affect performances at the Cheltenham Festival in March and ask, realistically, how many races will be won by English trainers?
Later we’re joined briefly by Lucinda Russell and Peter Scudamore as we discuss Ahoy Senor, plans for the festival and ask what would they change about racing?

What a dreadful interview that was. Just a load of cap doffing. If Ahoy Senor is a genuine Gold Cup horse for next year then he runs in the Brown Advisory. That will tell you what you have for next year, or is it so important to kid the owners along for another year? There shouldn't be any other options. If you are frightened of Cheltenham this year then he isn't a Gold Cup horse. How can you compare a horse who has run in a couple of four runner novice chases with a great horse like Carvills Hill? It's total nonsense. No wonder we are struggling to take on the Irish when we have got the white flags before the meeting even starts.

Quite a lot of nonsense about Sir Gerhard stepping up in trip. He's just ripped a hole in the best Grade 1 Novice Hurdle of the season, and was quicker than Honeysuckle on only his second start over hurdles. He's the equal of the British contenders on that, and should head for the Supreme.
Dysart Dynamo's long striding cruise is far more suited to the longer trip of the Ballymore, where there are no speedier horses to stalk him.

Ahoy Senor its all about Cheltenham. You want do a Nicholls go consolation rout IE Aintree. No one remembers Aintree winners unless its the grand national. You fear other horses from Ireland fine but dont then claim the horse is a monster when winning at Aintree. Horses are remembered for the horses they beat.
GOLD CUP Behave every season we have a great novice every year we have some say Gold cup,it eas Monkfish last season and he scrambled home in the RSA.
The Brown advisory can leave a mark, 6.y.o talented horse a gold cup can finish him.
Mullins 6 times Sir Gerhard runs 6 times 2 mile races then the best trainer around says " i know lets step him up in distance on the most important race in the horses carear so far". When it gets beaten Cheverly multi million pound investors will asked the question "Why not the supreme" mullins then says "its because i had 2 in the race". The horse boxes would be there within the the hour to pick up the horses and take them to Elliots stable.
Conflated saved my day. Only had £14.56 on him at 50s. The rest of my horses 12 bet on no winners 9 seconds including 6 which was 8/1 or better. So thanks to Tom and PK.
If you think about it every gold cup runner as some question marks including now Conflated. I thought this a few weeks back so did Ahoy i think 50s and Fiddlerontheroof 50s who will win the Ladbroke

as an irish racing fan i will the majority of the time bet irish trained horses but i have been looking at all chelt races and i think dan skelton has several decent chances and i think he is being overlooked…..so i will be putting a few quid on him to be top english trainer at festival…..
