The 2017 Club World Cup Final was the 14th final of this competition, held annually between the winning clubs in each of the six continental confederations, as well as the league winner in the host country. It was played at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on December 16.
The final was played between the Spanish club Real Madrid, representing UEFA, as current champions of the UEFA Champions League, and the Brazilian club Grêmio, representing CONMEBOL, as current champions of the Copa Libertadores de América.
Real Madrid won the game 1-0 with a Cristiano Ronaldo goal from a free kick. The Spanish team was dominant during all 90 minutes of the game, with the Brazilian team finishing the game with just one shot on goal (with a free kick from right-back Edilson). The pair of tricolor defenders, however, behaved very well in the match to contain the attack meringue. Real won thus winning their third Club World Cup title, and their sixth world title. This was the first time that a team successfully defended the Club World Cup title, after Real won the title the previous year. The victory also marked the tenth time that a UEFA team has won the Club World Cup.
