  1. One of the greatest game rentals of all time that I never owned. Nintendo Power magazine made me aware of this game and it lived up to all the hype. Didn’t know it was a different game in Japan until years later or I had just forgotten.

It reminded me of GI Joe and Power Blade but you could smash things with your fists. Really fun game. Too many great action side scrollers for the NES that caused many to be forgotten. This was definitely one of the best ones I ever played.

  2. I'm from Brazil and Solbrain was broadcast on TV here at that time, so the japanese version of the game was best known here. It's a great game.

  3. It's always good to see this game get some attention. I only got to rent it a couple of times as a kid and could never find it to buy. I was thrilled when emulation reintroduced me to it years later.

  4. Glad I picked up the NES and famicom versions years ago when Uncle derek from Stop skeletons first mentioned it.

  5. If you're going to play the original Famicom version on an emulator, there's a translation patch out there for the cutscene dialog.

When I came across it I was surprised it was the basis of Shatterhand so that's when I tried it out.

  6. This was one I got lucky on locally years ago, $10 cart only. If I had to buy it again, I wouldn't due to how horribly overpriced it is.

  7. Solbrain isn't really short lived, but rather the second yearly series of the Rescue Police trilogy, which is itself part of the greater Metal Heroes franchise.

  8. It was covered in one of GamePros episode on TV when I was a kid

    Looked cool as hell

Unfortunately never got to play it growing up

Maybe this weekend might be a good time finally 😁

  9. Nice Hidden gem here mate & first time hearing about this game that was for the NES system years ago! Enjoyed this video Jim & take care!
