Just for a change, I thought I’d let you see something different to with a deep delve into the archives.

Many years ago I developed a database to hold the horse racing data freely available from Betfair both for analysis as well as automatic betting and trading on Betfair. No sooner had I done this, Betfair changed their API and, despite having a post grad software engineering qualification, I hate programming and lost interest in relearning much of what I’d already done so the project was abandoned.

This video references a series of posts on my now defunct Bet Your Life Sports Trading blog which discussed the database design process.

I have plans on the back burner, which I’ve started, to redo the data analysis part on a smaller scale using SQLite and Python but progress is very slow as finding the enthusiasm for it is difficult. No idea if it will ever see the light of day.

Anyway, it will give you an idea of what can be done.
