  1. I'm a pro-betfair trader, so would love to agree with you but I have a friend who brings in £4k-£10k per month from match betting (depending on what offers are on available at the time) to be fair he doesn't have losing days like WE do with trading…… Also, match bettors don't necessarily become good traders, it's a totally different ball game at the end of the day…… My personal opinion is, do want your good at but it's great to get good at both!

  2. Just do both, because it will take you a couple of years to become a successful trader so you may as well rinse the bookies while you learn.

  3. Do not discourage matched bettors. They are part of the ecosystem as they provide a lot of liquidity. Plus they are more probable to take bad value side of the equation (thus matching your fishing orders) as they extract money from the bookies and are less value sensitive

  4. The basic problem with matched betting, arbing etc is being gubbed. Eventually this happens to everyone. The basic problem with Betfair trading is that it isn't easy, and takes time to learn. If general reports are to be believed, only a small percentage of traders make a consistent profit. There's a balance to be struck.

  5. Trading is Far more scalable. Once you have a big bank, you definitely should give trading a serious go. On the other hand the ROI on matched betting is far far higher than trading even though it can only be done on a low level once accounts are gubbed. I keep a £1000 bank for matched betting and make around £100 per week with it. 10% a week trading would make you a millionaire inside a year, so Nobody is that successful. (except maybe Psychoff!)

  6. Match betting had a very short shelf life for me. It just seemed like I was scratching around for a few crumbs towards the end. Get a £5 free bet and lock in £3.83 profit 🥳

  7. Matched betting always seemed like way too much trouble to me. operating all those accounts and inevitable worries bout getting banned.

  8. True, sadly not available for now in the netherlands hopefully in a few months time it will be available again.
Matched betting could be profitbale but takes tons of time and money to do it. Not to mention all the research required.

Trading is better economics all round in time /research and profit margins. and you can do several trades through out a match .
So that is also more time /money /research economics.

Trade is longterm gains , betting short term gains . one secure profit and the other instable . un predictable.
