A new analysis by the Fight Inequality Alliance, Institute for Policy Studies, Oxfam, and Patriotic Millionaires found a shocking rise in global wealth among the world’s richest people. This despite deepening inequality during the COVID-19 pandemic. The analysis shows that an annual wealth tax applied to the world’s richest would raise $2.52 trillion a year. Meanwhile, a group of more than 100 billionaires and millionaires issued a plea to political and business leaders convening virtually for the World Economic Forum: make us pay more tax. Human Rights Activist Njoki Njehu, who is the Pan Africa Coordinator of the Fight Inequality Alliance, shares more.
