About the song:
I thought before doing the song that maybe I should use Sandopolis instruments, but more accurate instruments seemed like a better idea once I saw how little room I had in general. I also thought some Castlevania Bloodlines instruments might be useful for things like strings and the reverse piano, but they weren’t particularly great, so I tried out some Sonic instruments as possible placeholders since they’re pretty good in most contexts, and I ended up using them as the final thing. Everything was pretty simple from there, the song repeats quite a lot so it didn’t take too long to make, but then I had to adjust the general volume and that was more difficult.

There are parts where the song gets rid of the bass instrument, and though the original can get away with it because of the electric guitars’ reverb, I had more trouble because the guitars weren’t loud enough to work as a replacement. I did my best trying to make the guitars sound the same, but in the end I ended up using one of the accompaniment instruments as a bass, one that already sounded pretty low, and I made it about as loud as the bass so it would carry the same function.

As an aside, I’ve been having some trouble writing these descriptions lately, I’ve blamed it on taking too long to write them and not remembering what I did, and also on using them as a way of sharing what I’ve learned and me not having learned much recently, but now I think I know what the reason really is. I kinda forgot how to write these, that’s it. They’re kinda written like a retrospective on how to make the song, but a lot of things have changed lately and I kinda lost focus. I used to write these immediately after finishing them, but then I lost the habit. I also used to write what I had learned while making it, but sometimes I feel like I do things automatically, so I can’t find anything to mention. In the end, the point is to just mention what I did and why, I did things for a reason, that’s what these are for. I’ve said to myself multiple times that if I were to do the same song at two different points in time, they’d be two completely different songs, because my approach always changes. It’s funny just how much you forget how to do when you go from doing things daily and then taking a break for like a month, turns out there’s more short-term memory involved than anything.
