  1. Getting tired of 'investors' second guessing Tesla & Elon on issues I feel THEY know enough to move towards THEIR goals. You say keep Elon as CEO…. so let Them/Him run OUR company. Grow up and decide which side you Are on

  2. Herbert, my view is that of a potential EV customer. Do my views matter?

Tesla is not a bot or robotaxi company. Trust and stick value will be lost if it attempts to rebrand itself that way.

I have test driven several EVs with the full intention of buying one.

However, I am risk averse and after the best ownership experience.

I own a Skoda Superb with 330,000 km on it, which a child now enjoys. Keeping old cars going is better for the environment than scrapping them. Yet it doesn't suit the profit motive.

My current 2023 model car cost me about US$27,000 drive away.

It has a 7-year 150,000 warranty for total peace of mind.

My partner's 2023 car costing US$24,000 drive away has a 7-year unlimited distance warranty for even more peace of mind.

Both cars have more luxury than the Teslas I have been in.

They also have most of the life saving features that prevent accidents like Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist.

Both also have adaptive cruise control, large digital displays, plenty of tech, great sound systems sunroofs that open and much more.

Notably, one is Indian and the other Chinese.

Used and serviced as designed, there is nothing to stop our cars running for the next two decades, apart from government intervention.

Here's why I chose not to buy a Tesla, despite owning shares in the company.

The basic vehicle warranty of 4 years or 80,000 km (50,000 miles), whichever comes first, more than hints at planned obsolescence.

Similarly, the battery & drive unit warranty is only 8 years or 160,000 km, (100,000 miles) whichever comes first.

Owners with more than 100,000 miles have started reporting battery failure that requires a new battery at a cost in the vicinity of $US10,000. Yet that new battery only has a 12 month warranty!

Elsewhere, people have reported replacement batteries for the Kia EV costing more than US$40,000 which borders on criminal for a new car.

I don't want to be stuck with a 2019 iPhone experience. The phone gets OTA updates, yet needs constant charging.

Tesla also motivates people to wait for discounts and trains people to expect massive depreciation.

The Model S and X has left a bitter depreciation loss for owners.

Markets will reprice energy. As demand for gas drops the price of electricity will soar. This is already happening.

Long drives charging on the road is not cheap! Only this with solar panels on their roof and batteries in their home may get net financial benefits in the long term.

Pricing in depreciation, insurance and greater tyre costs is rarely done.

FSD is another value mirage. Most people who buy nice cars enjoy driving. I don't know of any research that shows people want their own cars to drive them. People who don't want to drive use Uber.

FSD and robotaxis appear to be a solution in search of a problem.

Again and again I see people saying they have been terrified in a Tesla.

FSD has never existed. It should be renamed Fully Supervised Driving.

If I have to have my hands on the wheel, or pay full attention to the road, what is the point of FSD to the individual driver?

The first attempt at a Model 3 clone, the BYD Seal performance, is a remarkable first effort. If it weren't for tariffs on Chinese cars, Tesla would be in trouble. Once BYD starts manufacturing in Mexico, it will be.

I am lucky to have got out of both the stock and the cult before Christmas. What a relief!

So, I am no longer a member of the Church of Elon.

However, should there be a resurrection in the form of FSD actually being approved by authorities and the Megapacks and 4680 cells truly ramping, I will look on with interest again in 2025.

    But until then, I'm out.

  3. Why do you need to prioritize? I assume you can do both simultaneously. Though I think the bot is the lower hanging fruit. You can monetize those a lot faster with much less bureaucracy and safety hazards.
