Back in the 2001 NBA draft, the Atlanta Hawks and Memphis Grizzlies engaged in a draft day deal that would end up working well for both teams. The Grizzlies got their center of the future in Pau Gasol, meanwhile the Hawks were able to get a few good years off from Shareef Abdur Rahim before trading him to eventually acquire highflyer Josh Smith.
