The Race For The Kingdom | Crusader Kings 3 – Royal Court DLC – Part 22

Crusader Kings 3 continues and it’s all change in the Lovely People dynasty as Emir Cake’s time runs out, but not before he begins work on an ambitious plan, one that he should have possibly worked on a while back… the plan to form a Kingdom!

We need a lot of money to get it done, what with forming new Duchy titles and then creating the Kingdom title, and whilst we’re earning quite a bit each month, Cake doesn’t have many months left for this world, which leads to a nail-biting countdown…

I won’t spoil it for you, but needless to say that Fadl takes over the realm and is immediately given a new hat and also a new wife, which is nice for him. We also have to do all the other new character stuff, like sort the council and pick a lifestyle and suchlike.

With his reign obviously quite short, Fadl finds that some of his vassals aren’t too happy with him, so he throws a nice feast and also he undertakes the Hajj to prove his devotion to his religion.

Also there are some wars, a few sad deaths and a very odd route of succession…

Your legacy awaits. Choose your noble house and lead your dynasty to greatness in a Middle Ages epic that spans generations. War is but one of many tools to establish your reign, as real strategy requires expert diplomatic skill, mastery of your realm, and true cunning. Crusader Kings III continues the popular series made by Paradox Development Studio, featuring the widely acclaimed marriage of immersive grand strategy and deep, dramatic medieval roleplaying.

Take command of your house and expand your dynasty through a meticulously researched Middle Ages. Begin in 867 or 1066 and claim lands, titles, and vassals to secure a realm worthy of your royal blood. Your death is only a footnote as your lineage continues with new playable heirs, either planned… or not.

Discover a sprawling simulated world teeming with peasants and knights, courtiers, spies, knaves and jesters, and secret love affairs. An extensive cast of historical characters can be romanced, betrayed, executed, or subtly influenced.

Explore a vast medieval map stretching from the snowswept Nordic lands to the Horn of Africa, and the British Isles in the west to the exotic riches of Burma in the east. Claim, conquer, and rule thousands of unique counties, duchies, kingdoms, and empires.

Each character is larger than life, with traits and lifestyle choices determining their actions and schemes. Prompt fear and dread as you rule with an iron fist, or inspire your subjects with magnanimous deeds. Genetics can be passed along to your children, be it the gift of genius or crippling stupidity.

Groom your heir with the appropriate guardians or educate them yourself. If found wanting, marry them off or despatch them through other means.

Customize your ruler and noble house, from appearance to attributes, and create a monarch worthy of all their inherited virtues and vices.

Govern an ever-evolving realm and grant titles to whom you see fit – or usurp your liege to claim their crown as your own. Be wary of rivals, from restless serfs to revengeful concubines.

The shadows stir frequently, and danger lurks around every darkened corner. Recruit agents and other unsavory elements to undermine, blackmail, or murder those who stand in your path. Or be inspired by the bard and ballad, and seduce your way to power and influence.

Blood will flow. Assemble men-at-arms units and powerful knights. Manage your battlefield tactics and armies. Raid and plunder nearby lands or hire mercenaries and Holy Orders for your major conflicts.

The paths to follow are limitless: experience thousands of dynamic events and life-altering decisions tailored to each and every conceivable situation and character. There are countless ways of securing and keeping your place in the history books.

  1. I am guessing the modesty cups are a fun thing, and not because he have not found the Turn off nudity toggle in options ? .
Or don´t it work ? never tried it

  2. Why dose a Muslim guy have wine? Dont forget to convert your 2nd wife and you also seem to have got an extra county. Like everyone else make the Mecca duchy as again it is islam most important place.

  3. Penge you also married someone to someone to give them land and they also have a son already i don't remember who it is but they where good so you wanted to give them land

  4. I think that popup means that Maryam is scheming against you, but I can't remember whether she's trying to befriend you or seduce you. It's a popup you can get yourself, when you're trying to impress someone and it has you choose between different types of readings. You're just on the other side of it this time, I think!

  5. That was a great episode , pity about the king thing but it will happen eventually, better to wed you sister in law that a 13 year old

  6. Penge,

I realize, with the hubbub of the pilgrimage and swearing off sexual relations during the Hadj – All while marrying the delectable young wife #2, you have neglected to request (demand) said wife #2 to convert to Fadl's religion. You surely (Shirley?) don't want your new son and heir to be born into the foreign religion of your young wife.

I can only concur with the suggestions already offered to create the Duchy (Emirate) of Mecca BEFORE creating the Lovely People Kingdom (Sultanate). Mecca is the wellspring for most of the lovely taxes flowing into Fadl's treasury and (like Scrooge McDuck) we all know how he loves to swim among the golden coins in his vault. (I'm old enough to remember the Donald Duck Comic books that included such scenes. I'm surprised that you are also old enough to know of them.) Beware the Beagle Boys! To reiterate, make sure the Emirate of Mecca is a de jure duchy of your new kingdom – you don't want some neighbor to create the Sultanate of Araby and try to take Mecca from you.

  7. you don't have to create all the duchies as long as you completely hold all of it (directly or in directly), and if you can create the ones you don't completely hold they will also be added into the new kingdom.

  8. Just a thought but you've conquered alot of land in the last few Episodes, but you haven't been building or upgrading buildings. More money, more soldiers, more conquering

  9. A few tips:
-Awwww! Poor Cake! Here are a few ways you can get money in a hurry if you desperately need it:
    >>Consider cancelling any construction you are working on, which will refund the cost.
    >>Check if there's any criminals in your empire you can imprison, and ransom out. (This will generally require them to be landed criminals so they have enough money to pay you). If you haven't got any, you can set your spymaster to look for secrets on your vassals. If you have a good spymaster, that can be a quick task to perform.

    >>Make sure your steward is collecting taxes; this not only increases your monthly income, it gives a chance each month that you'll get the 'extra taxes' event.
    >>Switch to stewardship, wealth branch, for a monthly income boost. If you have time, pick up the ability to demand payment for hooks.
    >>Revoke some castles or temples off your barony-tier vassals, if you have any domain limit left. Adding a few more castles/temples to your domain can significantly increase your income immediately, and it is your privilege to revoke baronies at will as the ruler of the realm.
    >>Put your wife on 'manage domain'. Your increased stewardship will translate into slightly higher domain taxes.

-The guy with -6000 acceptance because of the military strength was because the game hadn't updated your strength yet after the succession. It's the same reason all factions seem to have 1000% power against you for the first month until the game updates. Not sure why the designers have done it this way, but the good news is you only have to wait a month after gaining the title and you should be able to negotiate alliances again as normal.

-My favorite legacy perk branches are Law and Warfare. I am a bit unusual in that I rarely take Blood. My reasoning is that if both your parents are beautiful herculean geniuses, then you are guaranteed to be the same and at that point will get exactly nothing from the Blood track. By breeding carefully, you'll get to the point where all your characters are beautiful herculean geniuses, and blood then becomes obsolete. Compared to that, Law will always give you cheaper feasts, more control, and more domain limit; Warfare boosts your armies and lets you have a whole other stack of men at arms, which is huge by the late game as by then your men at arms are massively powerful.
I do also like the new Customs branch, but the only really good perk is the last one, Side-by-Side, which is utterly amazing. It gives you the 'celebrate other cultures' decision which is insanely powerful – it gives every county in your realm that belongs to any culture you have high acceptance with a massive boost to development growth. The amount is on par with what you get from being a high-value holy site or special building, except that it is every single county of that culture. There is nothing else in the game that gives such a huge development growth boost as far as I know (short of a few special local decisions like Found the Capital of the Rus).
Also, once you are an empire, the legacy perks that give a boost to court grandeur are very useful, as it will boost the grandeur of any kings of your dynasty that you have under you, pushing them further above their expected level, and hopefully into the range that causes them to generate renown. Vassals of your dynasty that are underneath you don't generate renown, except if they are a king and are above grandeur expectation, (in which case they can generate up to 4.4 per month before modifiers), so at some point as an Emperor it can be good to dip into Glory and Erudition for this reason.

-Don't forget to do hunts. I have like 2000 hours in the game and only recently discovered having hunts lowers your weight. (!) Your weight is a hidden variable on a scale from -100 to 100, and every hunt lowers it by 4. Every feast raises it by 7. To minimize the weight gain from feasts, it's a good idea to hunt whenever you can. (I also didn't realise that personality traits also affect your weight, and greedy causes it to go up, so Fadl will want to do lots of hunts to stay in shape).

Really looking forward to seeing the founding of the kingdom!

  10. So very close to that Kingdom! It might be a small victory in disguise, however, now that you can get a few more Duchies to rightfully belong under your new Kingdom. Remember to get the Duchy of Mecca formed before the Kingdom, that is an incredible place to hold forever =)

    Some small notes:
    1. The reason you couldn't get that Alliance you wanted; with that massive negative due to difference in army size, was because you hadn't let time run on far enough for the game to calculate your army size properly. That's also why factions popping up right after a Ruler change is shown to have 1000% power, it needs a bit of time (usually about a month) to sort out what your new Ruler has. So you're free now to get that Alliance if you still want it.

    2. While granting titles in your realm to relatives is quite nice, and generally a good way to keep vassals in line, it does not factor into your monthly Renown. From the wiki: "Rulers will not add Renown to their Dynasty if any Liege is a member of the same Dynasty."
Over time it will be benefitial, however, as they can make Alliances of their own that could see some Lovely People rule in other places down the line (of succession). Also, any Lovely People married to a Ruler someplace else gives your Dynasty 80% Renown of what their spouse's title generates.
