The Bots Master is a French/American/Canadian 1993 cartoon series, produced by Jean Chalopin and Saban International.

In total 40 episodes were made, each one having a special 3D segment using the Pulfrich effect and special glasses that you could get from buying one of the many The Bots Master action figures.

  1. It didn't just end, it ended on a cliffhanger. The Corp had developed their own Artifical Intelligence robots.

  2. The quasi hip hop theme did add a certain charm to the show. I remember watching like 10 episodes before knowing the premise. I thought the Boyz Brigade were Zz's friends that he turned in to robots after an attack by the Corp.

  3. I worked on the 3D motion segments here in Los Angeles. It wasn't easy but we managed to somehow knock them out on time. I have to admit that the show wasn't great but it was my first true animation job. Unfortunately I knew when the writing was on the wall when the toys started showing up at my local Pick n' Save; and this while we were still in production. [sigh]

  4. never understood the 3D.. are you supposed to focus on the picture with the dim eye, or the clear eye? because no one in their right mind can focus with both eyes as one is dimmed because you have the biological urge to want to to focus through one eye. which was it?

  5. I loved watching Bots Master as a kid, I remember getting a set of 3D glasses in a magazine that worked with Bots Master (can't remember what the glasses were originally for)

  6. Im actually trying to find the name of a late 80s/early 90s 3d cartoon set in space. I remember it having really cool 3d with the space battle scenes but i cant remember the name of the show for the life of me.

  7. Growing up as a poor child. I begged my mom to get the figures when they showed up discounted at big lots. It was the first time I ever got toys for a show I was watching on TV. I loved Lazer time and had my 3d glasses next to me the very next episode and was transported. I fucking loved this show

  8. I never saw this show, but I had a lot of exposure to the toys. The local Big Lots had them in stock for a whole decade, apparently unsellable.

  9. I can't believe you made this video! I love this show so much and not too many people seem to know it exists. Love this! 🙂

  10. I vaguely remember watching this show as a kid.
Looking back on it as an adult years later. The Rapping in the opening theme feels REALLY forced!

  11. This man thinks this future is more possible then Rude dog and the dweebs. Not sure if I can take you seriously anymore 😂

  12. I remember this animation feeling very ahead of it's time, and the ironic awkwardness of the good guy being attracted to the bad gal which I don't recall having been done before.

  13. What hooked me to this show was Zulander's relationship with Lady Frenzy. I had a big crush on her and was hoping she'd eventually switch sides

  14. I really enjoyed this series. When the series ended with the bad guys finally developing their own AI, it was one of the worst cliffhangers we could have received as viewers.

As for 3D, I can't watch it. My left eye was already weak from a bully smashing my face with a rock as a kid, and is too damaged from my diabetes. It's fine though. I like paying regularly for standard movies and shows while everyone else pays for the gimmick.

  15. This was the best child cartoon of the 90s. I always got hype to watch this before being dragged out the door to school. Very suggestive, with Zip Zulander, being the greatest voyeur protagonist ever, lol. this show needs to be rereleased on dvd

  16. I got here because of the theme song. It's…actually catchy as hell but I can't stop laughing at how the lead is named ZULANDER.

    Ah, if only they knew….

And thank you for making a video on the future of Bob Iger and his take over of Earth! You're so thoughtful!

  17. My dad actually painted the prototype figures back in the day, I had no idea what they were until somewhat recently. I saw them as a kid, thought they were MAYBE Toxic Avengers but apparently it was a show I don't think I ever saw.

He had done work on the evil doctor and one of the bots.
Gotta see if I can find the photo of me sat with them. The prototypes were way larger than the real figures, I'm not sure why that is but funny enough he still has an unpainted Saber Tooth from the 90s.
    Wonder if that's worth anything.

  18. THIS IS THE CARTOON THAT I WAS THINKING ABOUT but couldn't think of the name! Oh man, like a friggin thorn in my brain for well over a decade!
    …now my life is complete.

  19. A corporation who wants to rule the world. That aged well in 2020/2021. Amazon and Google just had a DIRECT impact on the last "election", if you can call it that. Google literally silenced anyone who had a non-negative opinion on trump and Amazon refuses to allow access to anything against the liberal agenda. Who know some random cartoon from '93 would peg post 2020 so accurately.

  20. Although both Botz Master & Space Strikers don't use CGI, 3D special effects is only viewable w/ special 3D glasses, & this was just b4 HDTV invaded home living rooms.
