  1. I think the point about human-shaped robots is the possibility of a generalised multi-functionality… a washing up robot or a floor-vacuuming robot is limited to those specific tasks and certainly don't require AI… But an AI in human shape which could move, act and to a large degree think like a human has virtually unlimited possibilities.

  2. The humanoid shape might make buyers trust incorporating one into everyday life more? A way to get AI into homes or buildings inhabited by humans, with less resistance. I don't want an AI dog following me around and certainly not a humanoid back flipping monster like Atlas. A calm sort of help meet I can outrun "seems" like the lesser evil.

  3. Wow! Just found your channel, and I've been a fan of many Tesla and SpaceX channels. Your content is really quite good! Subscribed!!

  4. Human flesh on titanium alloy endoskeleton – running AI.

Who would be accountable for their actions? Normally Human beings are accountable to society after a certain age – with the parents/being held accountable until then ….. With robots – it is the law of insanity in terms of culpability – despite them always being potentially sane whilst at the same time – controlled by a separate "entity".

It looks like robots will be ushering humans around under the guise of personal assistants – and common humans will have limited say in matters when the controlling entity decides the course of action.

This is certainly a critical conundrum.

  5. Maybe in 2040 but next year and only cost $10,000 I highly doubt that spot Price is 75,000 as of today where not even talking about Boston dynamic humanoid Atlas that's around million dollars so for Tesla selling a humanoid for 10,000 bucks it ain't going to do to much that's for sure

  6. I agree that a humanoid robot isn't as efficient as a robot built for a specific task, but it's a cheaper way for a company to transition to full automation. Especially for a company that would never consider automation.
Like imagine you have a factory/warehouse where you pay workers $30,000 a year to do tasks like picking and packing, working lines, assembling things, pushing stuff around, loading trucks, cleaning, etc. It would be MUCH cheaper to replace those workers with $10,000 (projected price point I've heard for the Optimus) humanoid robots than it would be to get specialized automation systems installed in the factory.
The extra money they would make from not having to do breaks (if robots are on a charge rotation) could go towards upgrading to specific purpose automation systems.

And then there's even skilled trade workers that it might be able to replace. Like welders for example. At the moment a welding robot is around $30,000. Thats a big gamble on a robot that might not do what you want, and would be a pain to change if something changes in the product production line. But with the humanoid robot, you could always give it another task if it doesn't work out for welding.

So I think that if the Optimus actually is around $10,000 and can really do these mundane jobs, it's gonna change the world. Providing that they can keep up with the demand. But I guess the robots can help with that too.

  7. The consciousness of human beings is being connected to devices and the CPU of robots. Scientist and Genetiscist are giving robots human consciousness by attaching the consciousness of a human being to AI, a robot, driverless cars , Smart Phones, and Smart Technology. The robot is what you see plastic and electricity – the secret is – the AI is human consciousness made manifest.

  8. If you want a robot to perform one specific task, sure, you don't want to make a humanoid form. That wouldn't be efficient as you say. For example, the vacuum robot can't wash the dishes or clean the windows. But if you want a robot to be able to perform a number of different tasks,, then a human form robot may be the best design. They could learn by watching humans perform tasks for example.

  9. the reason the humanoid form is used is likely because it’s a general purpose robot. i agree that the human body is not exactly perfect in any way but if you try to improve it for 1 task you’ll likely make it worse for another. a robot arm might be much more efficient than anything else at handling objects but it can’t really do much else. this robot is meant to do most anything a normal human could
edit: i am by no means a super knowledgeable expert genius this is just my take i may be way wrong so take it with a grain of salt

  10. it makes no sense when there are millions of people around the globe with no work, no money, no food. this is tech elitism, diverting wealth further away from the poor. it's inhumane and disgusting, really. and that's before we start in on the threat of AI which Musk himself was condemning as heralding the end of humankind. he's a untrustworthy, lying, manipulative psychopath, under the goofy, tech whizz i'm saving the planet billionaire.

  11. The one thing might have come to your mind is BS! A flamethrower, yes, but a humanoid robot by Tesla, bollocks!

Tesla still uses the long term plans of the real founders of the company, Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, beyond a flamethrower, Elon Musk has absolutely zero chance to come up with anything better than a flamethrower.

Bitcoin is going down, I'm fairly positive, if Elon wasn't kicked out soon, Tesla will follow suit.

  12. Saying that robots are human shaped for no apparent reason is not really well thought out. It's really obvious when you think about it. Almost everything humans make is adapted to the human form: seats, doorways, counter tops, stairs. I don't want 100 robots in my house all doing one specific thing, I want a single robot that can take over all my boring, repetitive, mundane tasks.

  13. GOING TOO MARS? piloting in space for long periods, like extraterestals seem to be biorobots at least the greys.

  14. The good part is Elon Musk has no hands on part of any of this work! He's an actor/human ponzie scam !

  15. In brave new world people don't do shit. Just pampered sheep. Is this the future we want where humans don't work and sit around till the power goes out?

  16. The point he's trying to make in this video is pretty simple imo. Current AI tech simply isn't smart enough for many things e.g level 5 autonomy hence why we still have and need a steering wheel for cars. Similar logic applies to everything today that still needs a human physically perform an action. By the time we have advanced enough tech, there wont be a need for that steering wheel or for a humanoid to have hands to be able to hold that steering wheel, neither would we need to perform any physical activity designed for us humans in our human form. By than everything will be automated with us only needing to use our minds. Simply put by the time Tesla can justify a humanoid robot being smart enough to fulfill our daily tasks there would be specialized robots far superior at their own specialized task. That is also why we have so many different companies in tech focused and specialized on solving very different problems.
