Tim Urban: Inside the mind of a master procrastinator | TED

Tim Urban knows that procrastination doesn’t make sense, but he’s never been able to shake his habit of waiting until the last minute to get things done. In this hilarious and insightful talk, Urban takes us on a journey through YouTube binges, Wikipedia rabbit holes and bouts of staring out the window — and encourages us to think harder about what we’re really procrastinating on, before we run out of time.

  1. TED has many amazing talks but this one takes the crown ever after all these years. it is my birthday today, july 2022, and I have proudly watched this talk over 10 times now. I just keep coming back here because I need to tell myself that I am not the only one procrastinating on IMPORTANT THIGNS THAT MATTER!

  2. Best thing I have seen. Procrastination has messed me up in some cases because most times I get away with it at the end, then I tooka a hard look on myself and now start to write down each day for each week what I am supposed to do and achieve, although I might still procrastinate but it has helped me to at least try to do something that day which is one step further. 😊 thanks TED and Tim Urban

  3. I was lying in bed at 4 a.m. and suddenly realized that all the pain was caused by myself

  4. I would watch the whole thing but I just realized that it's 18:09 and at 18:30 a sports event was about to start after which I was to go to the mall and before that sports event I wanted to take a shower not to waste my time.

Which means by watching this I am procrastinating which is fucking stupid.

  5. Major procrastination moment: I saved this video to watch later maybe a year ago, and now I finally got around to watching it.

  6. My monkey is telling me not to work on my essay due in two weeks and instead Watch a video about procrastinating 🙂

  7. I wish there was a way to drop out the audience laugh-track. I really want to listen to a TED Talk, not an episode of Laverne & Shirley.

  8. only the last 4 minutes of his speech are helpful. everything before that is his attempt at stand up

  9. I did my undergrad project in less than a week. About 60 or so pages. Funny thing is that I'm an academic writer and was doing projects for others but couldn't get to start my own until the last week. Got an A with only >2% plagiarism…..I believed you for a moment when you said it was the best 😀😀coz mine was among the best 🤓

I had promised to see this yesterday so I don't I'm badly off.

  10. This is me soo much. Through high school, undergrad, grad school and the first decade of work as a software engineer I would procrastinate so bad. Lke a huge 3 month feature I would be working on. I would do barely anything until a day before due then crank it out

  11. so i keep procastinating, exam comes so does the regreat.
and how i feel like crying all the time during the exam period because i keep failing myself and my hardworking dad that doesnt give up on me

  12. Procrastination is really a headache. I should have had a good interview to be a math teacher last month, but I always feel unprepared to face international high school students, so I have been putting it off until now.
