  1. Look "betting history" and P&L used to be so easy. Why the big deal? You used to open your account, and access "betting history" and P&L in seconds. It is a disgrace and a turn for this information to be with-held from the account holder. We, the punters need to rattle some cages at Betfair to get this sorted. Either that or we go public with the problem of accessing personal data. It's not rocket science. Please back me up on this.

  2. The official Betfair Historic data website is a nightmare. It contained corrupt data from the middle of Oct 2019, and is I believe still not adding new archives.
The old data can be downloaded, but u need programs to take the packaged (tar files), and split them into bz2 files, and find a way to display.
The data comes as updates .. e.g. the price was 1.80 5 mill secs ago, and the next upate is +2c, so, u need a program to calculate and display the new price of 1.82.
It's really, really not easy. I spent upwards of 8k on a downloader/displayer .. for personal use.
If u are not a programmer or haven't got an absolute ton of patience, I would avoid it But, thats just my opinion.
You might be better off recording your own markets, and avoid paying Betfair anyway. Various programs within API software like Bet Angel allow u to do this into Excel..

  3. Is pre race trading a strategy that is too saturated as it’s as if every man & his dog is doing it. Also do you plan on doing a recent P&L sheet?

  4. Extracting this data into Excel is a nightmare. JSON format, .tar files, bz2 files, etc etc. Is there anyone out there that can take us through the process in detail?

  5. Hi Caan, have you used this type of data on your trading journey? Or is this more for folks with a computer background.

  6. I did find the betfair's page, but had the same problem with the page as you. Just gave up in the end. Just review my recording now. Thanks Caan for the video.
