The Raptors are in this position to make a trade like this because of good development and patience. Too many teams trade in their future for a chance now, and spend seasons after trying to rebuild. Raptors we’re consistently good (not enough) made the derozan/Leonard trade and win a chip. And guess what they did it without trading off the pieces that have continued to develop to make a trade like this possible.
Durant is 34 on 4 year contract. We give up those pieces and the NETS will be wiping the floor with our asses for seasons to come.

Why would you cling? Masai might be playing the waiting game. Unlike the Suns and the Heat, the Raptors are recent champions so there isn’t that desperation to win that title. For the fan base, Scottie has quickly become the most popular Raptor along with Fred. Masai received rightfully a lot of flack for trading away the most popular Raptor and got extremely lucky. This also maybe KD’s last contract since he’ll be 34 when the season starts. His performance hasn’t dropped of course but he IS 34. If KD was between 28 and 30, Masai makes this trade, no question.

They’re not interested in starting over in 4 years, KD is rental and they envision tons of opportunities to win titles in the future when all the Canadian vets sign mins with their favourite team growing up? Maybe it would be dumb? Maybe we submit the best package without sacrificing the future and if we miss out on Durrant who cares? Raptors like what they’ve constructed, KD’s nothing but a lucky opportunity that fell in their lap
He's not interested in playing in Toronto, at all. Their fans disrespected him because they cheered when he blew out his achilles heel in 2019.
Yeah, you get a championship window for maybe 2-3 seasons with KD, but why give up someone who has the potential to be a future top 5 player in the league, loves the city and the organization and can be the future for the Raptors for the next 10+ years to come. Even if he doesn't reach that top level potential, you wouldn't tell Minnesota to trade a player like Anthony Edwards for KD, to have that championship window open right now. They and Masai know better.
Get rid of Scottie for what?
