  1. Firstly yes they should have paid him but lets not pretend its "luck" and also do you think bookies have an endless pit of money ..ok let me rephrase that as the answer could well be YES …do you think a retail shop has an endless pit of money in the kitchen ? No they do not for security reasons . So very often a five figure bet can not be paid on the day in cash regardless of circumstanse and other option our given . Ive worked in a bookies and as a pro gambler part of thje reason i have to work is that bookies our there to make money , its asimple fact and i struggle to get bets on bad ew inrunning tennis bets etc etc . Im sure its agreat story but you lost me the second you said" LUCK " you know for afact it wasnt LUCK so right of the bat your seeing and portraying this from one side .I as apunter have toaccepted BOOKIES are there to make MONEY not to make ME MONEY

  2. A bets a bet and they took his money so should honour it. That being said, slapping down a few grand on low level fixtures, with no bank account and 1 day left in the uk despite clearly having a British accent… does look a bit shady. Regardless, they should do their checks before taking your money. They don’t do background checks to see if you can afford to lose it all do they

  3. Yeah unfortunately gambling is just a way of harvest cash for poor people and if you don't believe me go to the poshest part of your hometown and count just how many betting shops there are and it will be zero but if you go to the parts of town where it's a bad idea to still be out after sunset then there will be an endless choice of betting shop and cheapo off licences plus pawnshops… the law only allows this for one reason and if you need me to tell you why then it's not worth explaining it because you chose to ignore that facts a long time age! The house always wins

  4. The negative publicity surrounding this will cost more than the £12,500 pay-out. What are they thinking? At time of writing 1.5M people have viewed this. I imagine many won't touch William Hill now.

  5. This is normal. Betting in the UK is impossible due to house rules, they can always state the bet was made in error and not pay. This has been in the news so many many many many times I lost count.

  6. I've never had a problem with William Hill, but then again I've never won more than £200 at once.

  7. Thank goodness there are people like you bringing this to public attention! Its outrageous they very happily accept your money when people place the bets but are not so keen to pay up when you win. They operate like the mafia. Is there some kind of society that can protect people from this kind of treatment? If there isn't then one needs to be set up!

  8. Juat to easily sort this non issue out, UK anti money laundering regulations require companies to id people before giving them large sums of money. It's just to prevent criminals who rob us, get violent, sell drugs and murder people in order to get rich quick, from doing sonwith impunity. Additionally, there is a law against what's called "tipping off" whereby they can get prosecuted for telling the individual that they suspect money laundering. That's all it is, just honest rules designed to keep us all safer.

  9. Plus the pooice should or have told the employers that the "pannick button" can't be usedbthis way and if so . The pannick button will be removed and you shop wont have it in the future

  10. "Speak to me like and adult" how condescending.. or rights are protected that the (woke, useless) police themselves have state we've a right to remain silent!

  11. William Hill. If you can't Pay don't Play. Bet you don't give the punters their money back if they lose.
    All a bit one sided.
