Your body language may shape who you are | Amy Cuddy

Body language affects how others see us, but it may also change how we see ourselves. Social psychologist Amy Cuddy argues that “power posing” — standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident — can boost feelings of confidence, and might have an impact on our chances for success. (Note: Some of the findings presented in this talk have been referenced in an ongoing debate among social scientists about robustness and reproducibility. Read Amy Cuddy’s response here:

  1. Here's what I learned from the video:
    1. You have to pretend to do it until it happens
    2. Always be in a position of power: try a Power Pose
    3. Tiny tweaks to big changes
    Thank you, Amy Cuddy

  2. While this ted talk is instructive and certainly helpful, those graphs were horrible and interpreted in a wrong way. First of all a normal man has around 3,5-11ng/ml of testosterone at all times, meaning a change of 8 pg/ml is a change of just 0,2%. Same thing for cortisol.

  3. This study is complete horeshit. Countless studies have been unable to replicate the results of this study. P-hacking was used by Carney and Cuddy.

  4. Why are the graphs misleading? The original gambling percentage is a bad representation, as 0 is not represented and zooming in on a specific section of the graph makes the difference seem larger than it actually is. As for the hormonal change, what is it in relation to? I know this is a ted talk, but when you have no frame of reference, those graphs are useless and misleading at best and harmful at worst. Do better, please next time

  5. Thật sự là mình rất thích âm nhạc những năm trước đây hơn là những bài hát hot hit hiện giờ. Kèm theo giọng hát của Đức Phúc thì ôi trời siêu hay luôn

  6. if you're always feeling low on confidence check if you have hunched shoulders. if you do pull them back to where they should be. this made the world of difference to me, it literally is changing my life. I don't know if it's a placebo but I feel much more confident now

  7. "Итак желаю, чтобы на всяком месте произносили молитвы мужи, воздевая чистые руки без гнева и сомнения"

  8. The presentation is superb. I am expecting you to include the roles of neurotransmitters, patterns of eating, hormones, and fuel type further. I believe psychology can be shaped by fuel type, manipulating neurotransmitters, and the pattern of eating.

  9. Wow this is a remarkable speech! It brought me to tears, as I can relate when your identity is taken by an accident, illness, and you loose your core self. I suffer from chronic pain, and never thought I was going to get better, til now that I am a twin mom, and rediscovered myself as a dominant woman, who can carry two babies in the womb, give birth to them, and raise them despite the minuses pain brings on. When it gets crazy with the babies, I pose in a dominant way and take authority of the situation! I magically feel empowered and able to control myself and the situation!
