Associate Editor of the Daily Mirror Kevin Maguire has criticised UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak after taking a bet on whether deportation flights to Rwanda will take off before the next general election.
In a one-on-one interview with Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan said to Mr Sunak, “I’ll bet you £1,000 to a refugee charity you don’t get anybody on those planes before the election. Will you take that bet?”
Mr Sunak shook hands with Mr Morgan and said, “of course, I want to get people on the planes”.
Mr Maguire blasted the British Prime Minister calling him a “naïve fool” for taking the bet.
“He should not have taken that bet, he looked like a naïve fool to do so,” he told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“He looked glib with a £1,000 to spare.”
